Poet's Corner: Out-worldly

I saw your son
About this 'Eden'.
We've had a chat
And now we're even.

He speaks of folk
As his descendants.
He treats us all

As his dependents.

He says there's good
In all the ends of
Our earthly wits
And fleshy tendons.

At first I thought:
'How condescending!'
But then I saw
His smile was fading
As he advised
That you had sent him
To teach us all
about repenting.

He looked at me;
Again he smiled.

Then he ran off;
Out-worldly child!

Yet, he was right;
We had gone wild.
