Poet's Corner: Being Funny

Today I was told
To write something funny.

They said I was dark;
So unlike a bunny.

A bunny was
Funny.

For, as it was running,
Along the horizon
It flipped off the forest
And all its denizens,
It shot past the tortoise
And said it was mindless
To think it could beat it
With patience and kindness.

The race had concluded;
The bunny looked restless.
It raged and it swore
At those who detested
Its tactless demeanour,
Its lack of correctness.

We all know who won,
I shan’t go in detail,
Suffice it to say
The race was travail.

The rabbit was rabid;
It was no longer running.
The cute, fluffy bunny
Was no longer funny.
